Buried at Bedlam Crossrail Project

I’ve been chosen as part of a research team working with Crossrail on the Bedlam Project, a unique chance to research London’s history and add to our knowledge of the city from the 16th and 17th centuries.

The old Bedlam Hospital cemetary is underneath Liverpool Street, London and is being excavated as part of the Crossrail project. The site of the cemetary will be the new ticket hall when the works are completed in 2017.

It is believed many thousands were buried there when parish churchyards became full during the plague.
